Aluminium pot — 3D study

Projeto pessoal

Context

A personal study with no client: an aluminium pot with its lid lifted, modelled and rendered by me, without a tutorial.

Concept and art direction

The noise in the metal is deliberate. Its effect is to pull the aluminium away from a smooth, polished look: light breaks up on the grain instead of sliding across it, and the material gets a more tactile, worked-piece surface.

The scene keeps a lean palette of cool and warm: the aluminium reflects the teal of the background, and the pedestal’s ochre is the only warm colour of any weight.

Process and techniques

The main image is the final render. The turntable and the clay view come from the same 3D file and let you read the form without the material; they sit in a slightly different pose from the render.

Credits

3D modelling and render: Gilmar Dias. The HDRI and the metal material used are free third-party assets.
