Blender Village — 3D study

Projeto pessoal

Context

A modelling and materials study: the ninja forehead protector from Naruto, remade with the Blender logo engraved on its plate and surrounded by kunai and shuriken suspended in mid-air.

Concept and art direction

The scene plays with temperature. The ochre background and orange band are warm; the steel of the plate and blades is cool. That contrast lifts the pieces off the background without needing outlines or a strong rim light.

The composition revolves around the plate: the weapons come in on crossing diagonals, at different sizes, building depth inside a square, front-facing frame.

Process and techniques

Apart from the HDRI, the file uses no image textures at all. The scratches, dents and brushed sheen of the metal come from procedural noise nodes, and the loose threads on the fabric are a particle system. The detail stays editable inside the scene, with no painted maps to depend on.

The viewport views (per-object colour, matcap, normals and studio light) were captured from the same camera as the render. That is why, in the loop at the top, each stage lands exactly on top of the final image.

In finishing, the denoise is blended with the original render instead of replacing it, which keeps some of the grain in the metal’s scratches.

Tech specs

Blender 3.0, Cycles engine, 512 samples. Final render at 4320 × 4320 px. Scene of roughly 262 thousand polygons, 11 lights and HDRI environment lighting.

Credits

The Old Hall HDRI and the Noise Pack v1.0 node pack are third-party resources. The Blender logo and the Naruto forehead protector belong to their respective owners; this is a fan reinterpretation.
